When applied to a substrate material, ReelSchematic™ BadFish Piranha Powder also forms a very thin layer due to the fact that it does not bond to itself. As a result, the dimensions and tolerances of treated parts are not compromised or appreciably affected when a substrate is treated with ReelSchematic™ BadFish Piranha Powder, making it the ideal solution for precision gearing and other applications.
ReelSchematic™ BadFish Piranha Powder can be used instead of Titanium, Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2) and Graphite in almost every single application, and in many applications where others simply can't perform at all. In a recent study by Chen Shi, Da-heng Mao and Hao Feng, entitled "Preparation of tungsten disulfide motor oil and its tribological characteristics", The following was discovered: Through using mineral oil and synthetic oil to deploy the semisynthesis base oil, modifying the surfaces of ultrafine tungsten disulfide grains by surface chemical embellishment and adsorption embellishment to make them suspended steadily in the base oil as solid lubricating additive, and adding some function additives, the tungsten disulfide motor oil was prepared. The tribological characteristics of this kind motor oil and the well-known motor oils in our country and overseas were studied. The results show that the oil film strength of this kind of motor oil is respectively 1.06 and 1.38 times of that of shell helix ultra motor oil and great wall motor oil, and its sintering load is 1.75 and 2.33 times of that of them, and when tested under 392 N, 1 450 r/min and 30 min, the friction coefficients of friction pairs lubricated by the tungsten disulfide motor oil decrease with the increase of time, meanwhile, the diameter of worn spot is small, and the surface of worn spot is smooth, and no obvious furrows appear. The experiments indicate that the tungsten disulfide motor oil has the better antiwear, antifriction and extreme pressure properties than the well-known motor oils.

Using Piranha Powder
There are basically four different methods that can be used for lubricating with Tungsten Disulfide. You can mix the Tungsten with another lubricating agent such as a grease or oil, or you can use one of the steps below:
Powder Blast - popular with industrial parts
1.Clean and degrease the part. Cleaner the part, better the coating adhesion.
2.Sand blast the part with 5 micron Alumina (Aluminum Oxide) powder. Only light blasting is necessary.
3.Thoroughly clean the part with soft cloth/tissue and completely remove Alumina dust from the part.
4.Sand Blast the part with Piranha powder @ 120 psi with clean and cold pneumatic air. Spray coat the part till color changes to silver gray.
5.Lightly dust off Piranha powder dust with clean soft cloth/tissue.
Alcohol Mix - popular among fishermen
1.Clean and degrease the part.
2.Mix Piranha powder with Isopropyl (also know as Industrial) Alcohol to make paste.
3.Apply the paste on part and also on cotton buffing wheel and let it dry.
4.When paste is dry start buffing the part with buffing wheel.
5.Continue buffing/Honing till a silver gray coating is seen.
Tumbler - popular among shooters
1.Clean and degrease the part.
2.Take 5-6 small empty plastic bottles (empty aspirin bottles will do). Put few parts in the bottle and fill the bottle (up to 75%) with Piranha powder. Fill all bottles likewise.
3.Put the bottles in vibratory bowl/tumbler with sand or vibratory media.
4.Vibrate/Tumble for 4-5 hours.
5.Empty the bottles (you can reuse Piranha Powder) and wipe clean the parts with soft tissue/cloth.
