The Ventura 40 is back from 1974. It was about the size 4/0 reel. It held 600 yards of dacron IGFA 30lb. 800 yards of dacron IGFA 20lb class. 3.5:1 gear ratio. Daiwa actually made Ventura Big Game rods to match up with the Ventura reels. The rods were all IGFA rated rods.

I've come across a Daiwa Ventura 40 big game reel.
It's a lever drag single speed gold anodized reel and may be a precurser to the Slt (Tournament) big game two speed reels of today. Any background information would be great. ie. age, gear ratio, which rods in daiwa's line were a match, etc.
