I would agree that it sounds like it was assembled wrong. Gears, drag washers and oterh parts must be in the correct order due to design tolorances in order for the drag system to opperate correctly. Rollin

Hi Fishbonz,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes , the reel had one of its bearings replaced at the dealers.
Your suggestion sounds right.
I will look at the reel's schematics.
Thanks.

Was this reel recently repaired or disassembled? sounds like something is not in place correctly.

Hi All,
Can anyone help with my query?
I have the Accurate 870 and this is my first lever drag reel.
My experience with the reel:
The reel gets difficult ( more resistance) to crank when I apply the drag. And it gets more difficult when I increase the drag.
Locking the drag to maximum, increases the resistance to crank even more. It feels like the drag is fighting me more than the fish.
It is only easy ( normal) when the drag is set to free. Adjusting the drag knob does not help.
I have opened the reel and don't see anything abnormal inside.
Any ideas?
Thanks
