Thanks for the Info. It helps me with any feed back from others. I usually fish off the bank but when I get a chance to get on A boat Man I'm there.

Depending on what you are fishing for and how you are fishing. If I'm casting jigs or live bait, I perfer Calstar because it's often lighter weight than Seeker. If the fish is straight down and I will be winching the fish up from depths, I like the Seeker (seems to have a little more backbone).
I would recommend going to a local store that sells blanks, bend them to see the curve, and to feel the strength you are looking for. You may be surprised what you choose.
There are a whole new industry in blank manufacturers to choose from. All have good points and bad.
In most conditions, I perfer fast or extra fast tipped rods. Sometimes harder to cast since the rod is not forgiving, but hook sets, feel the bite, etc. is best with a fast rods (therefore, my perference is G. Loomis - but the cost...)
For comparison to what I am talking about, compare a similar class downrigger rod with a boat rod with a jigging rod.

What can I say, if you can afford it Gloomis is the way to go for almost any type of freshwater rod. I own two and absolutely love fishing with them.
St. Croix would be my second choice.
