Abu Garcia Revo Toro PDF Print E-mail
Four models are available to suit the need of anglers. Model 50 and 60 comes in a lower speed ratio of 5.4:1, great for cranking power when needed. The 50-HS and 60-HS are the high speed reels having a 6.4:1 gear ratio.

Toro means bull in Spanish, and that's what this new reel is. Bullish. Mean. Big and brutish.

When the reel arrived and I got it out of the box, my first thought was, "Damn, this is a big reel to be low-profile." Maybe it's a saltwater reel, I thought, or something for a specific tactic. But it's not. It's just a meatier version of the Revo and is designed for heavy-duty action on big fish, either in freshwater or saltwater, with a high speed setup.

The Toro comes with oversized grips and a one-grip "power handle" you can swap out if you're fishing with the reel in saltwater for bottom species or for bigger species on top such as kings. The spool is oversized to handle more line. It comes with a "clicker" feature so you can set it if you're doing light inshore trolling.

Overall, it's simply a bigger reel designed for tough combat.

I guess the ABU people realized that the US anglers prefers bigger reels. The Revo was maybe too small in size...without taking away all its positive points!

How to take apart the Toro?
    0
I just got my Toro 51. I like it a lot! Curious as I am I tried to take it apart to see what's inside and for future servicing, but (unlike to all my other reels) I couldn't! Is there a trick or am I missing something? Hope anyone can help, thanks.

About time they made us cat fishermen a low peofile reel with a bait clicker! Only if someone would do the same design as the Toro for around $100 for us poorer folks...smilies/angry.gif
