Brant Williams from RedPig Reels had initially contacted us requesting if we would put the schematics for their reels on the site, so we did. I mentioned to Brant that we would love to do an independnt review on these reels if the company would like to participate, still awaiting an answer.

I'm going to be very conservative on this type of stuff. We're seeing many Chinese entries, duplicates from the same factory, different names, slightly different cosmetics... But, zero long term probability of support.
Frankly, I don't have faith in the offshore stuff without knowing well the manufacturer, knowing that the company selling them is in fact a primary
manufacturer.

As a side, I could sell "CharkBait" branded reels, just order x-number of 'em
with my name on 'em and trot around selling 'em, and disappear from the market leaving folks holding something they can't find support for a year or so later. I am skeptical, at best. We may entertain an offshore firm's product in future
months, but it will be from a reputable company, with U.S. offices, long-term reliable production,
perhaps an OEM manufacturer of fishing gear that's going it alone now.

Here's my take: call it a Jewish delema, "Pork at half price." No disrespect
intended. But, what we have here is an unproven product of questionable lineage, copied design, and doubtful longevity - based upon feedback I've received
personally. I can stand to be corrected, and time is a great judge of lasting
quality. Until I personally know more than I do, based upon what I do know, I
can't recommend this one at any price, unless it is free of course...even then I
don't think I'd waste my time.

Where are the reviews? Only reviews I see are from those selling the products!
Anyone that sells a product will always give a good review so I never buy based
on that. I need some reviews from long term board members or professionals in
the business that don't sell the stuff. Give me a handful of reviews from known
anglers not selling your product and I'll think about buying one! Family member
posts on the board don't count either!

Took an M30 and spooled it with about 800 yards of line of 30# and tied to the
bumper of truck, ran the truck at 20 mph in 100 yard spurts with a 20 sec rest, then proceeded for another 100 yrd with the drag tightened to normal feel of a
sailfish and by 200 yards the reel got jerky and snapped the line and got a nice
rats nest. Will post up another test when we respool and run it till the drag
dies, which I think won't be much more than a few hundred yards given that 200
had it taxed.

We did offer the company quite some time ago to do an independant reel review since we are not affiliated with Red Pig and do not sell reels ourselves. However we did not hear back from the company concerning our offer.

That's because they are afraid of the bad reviews that they might get, but thats
just a guess. My take is that they are going to sell as many as possible until
the bad rep catches up to them and then split like the others that have gone
down this road...which leaves everyone with a junk reels and lint in the pocket.
I really wish someone would do this right and plan for a few hundred test reels
in the fiels to non selling vendors..just the average angler or sports writer
that will give true reports.

We sent a second offer to the company yesterday to do a review of the products, to dispell any complaints if the products are in fact high-quality as advertised before the company's reputation becomes even more diminished. No response from the company...

No response from the company, I would assume they either do not want to confront anglers with the accusations over their reels or are preparing to go out of business. I can't comment on the reels themselves because I have not gotten one to review, however my rating for the company and its responsiveness would be zero.
